Tungsten-carbide tooling wanted

Turn your used tungsten into a sale

OJ Metal Recycling is looking to buy suitable tungsten-bearing scrap, with a focus on tungsten-carbide tooling. Carbide is a very hard material used in cutting edges and wear parts. If your workshop has a box, bucket or batch of used carbide, don’t leave it sitting unused or mix it into general scrap. Send clear photos and an approximate quantity so we can check the material and discuss a collection.

We assess each enquiry individually. We don’t publish a one-size-fits-all price: grade, composition, cleanliness, quantity and current market conditions all matter.

Material we want to hear about

What tungsten scrap do you have?

Send us photos even if you’re unsure of the exact grade. We’ll help identify the material before arranging anything.

Carbide inserts & tips

Used or worn replaceable cutting inserts, brazed tips and carbide tooling components.

Drills & end mills

Solid-carbide drills, end mills, cutters and other workshop tools that are no longer usable.

Wear parts & dies

Carbide wear components, dies, punches and production offcuts. Tell us what process they came from.

Workshop batches

A collected batch from CNC machining, engineering, manufacturing or maintenance work.

Examples are indicative only. Material must be confirmed before we agree a grade or collection.

Get a quicker assessment

A few photos can save time

For the best first look, photograph the whole batch, then add a close-up of the cutting edges and any stamps, packaging or grade markings. Include your postcode and a rough weight or container size.

  • Keep carbide separate from steel holders and general scrap where practical.
  • Don’t grind, crush or dismantle tools to try to prove the grade.
  • If it may be high-speed steel, ceramic, PCD/CBN or a tungsten alloy rather than cemented carbide, tell us—that changes how it is assessed.

Simple, transparent steps

How selling your tungsten works

1

Send photos & details

Tell us what the material is, roughly how much you have, where it is and whether it’s a one-off or regular workshop batch.

2

We confirm suitability

We’ll review the material and discuss grading and collection options before making arrangements. A photo assessment is not a final weighed offer.

3

Collection, weighing & payment

Suitable agreed loads are collected—there is no drop-off trade—and weighed item by item on calibrated scales. Payment is by bank transfer, not cash.

Why OJMR

A straightforward route for specialist scrap

We check the material

We want clear details and a fair grading conversation—not guesswork from a single photo.

Itemised weighing

Agreed collections are weighed on calibrated scales and explained by material.

Trade-friendly

We can discuss one-off or recurring suitable loads from workshops and engineering businesses.

Tungsten carbide is a material, not a single guaranteed grade. We confirm what we can accept and the collection terms before dispatch.

Start with a photo

Ask us about your tungsten

Send the details and a few images. We’ll review the material and get back to you about grade and collection suitability.

Clear overall and close-up photos help us identify the material. JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF.

Submitting an enquiry does not commit you to a sale. We’ll confirm whether the material and collection are suitable first.

Common questions

Tungsten scrap FAQs

Do you buy tungsten carbide inserts?

We want to assess suitable tungsten-carbide tooling, including used inserts and tips. Send photos and quantity so we can confirm the material and collection options.

Do you buy any item that contains tungsten?

Not automatically. Tungsten metal, carbide, high-speed steel and other tool materials are different grades. We check each enquiry before confirming acceptance.

Can I bring it to your yard?

No. OJMR is collection-only and does not accept drop-off trade. We’ll discuss whether a collection is practical for your load and postcode.

How do I get a price?

Send photos, markings if available, an approximate weight and postcode. We’ll review it and explain the next step. The final assessment depends on the actual material and weight.
